Use our simple sauce to throw together a pizza with your favorite seasonal ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Pre-made pizza dough
  • 2 Tbsp Horizon Organic Salted Butter
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 cup Horizon Organic Milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp fresh basil, minced
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • Favorite seasonal toppings (we used artichoke, arugula and peppers)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Sprinkle cornmeal on cookie sheet and stretch dough to fill.
  3. Allow to sit at room temperature while you make the sauce.
  4. To make sauce, heat butter in small saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Add flour and stir until mixed.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk, adding slowly, then whisk in garlic salt, pepper, basil and 1/2 cup mozzarella.
  7. Turn off heat and allow to cool for several minutes before spreading across prepared dough.
  8. Spread sauce over prepared dough, using as much as you'd like.
  9. Top with remaining cheese and your favorite seasonal ingredients, then bake for 15-20 minutes, until dough is cooked through and cheese is melty.
