What’s better than a snow day? A snow day with homemade hot cocoa!
Variations:
Double Chocolate - Stir in 1/4 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips until melted. Top with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips.
Peppermint - Add 1 tsp peppermint extract with the vanilla extract. Top with whipped cream and peppermint candies
Peanut Butter - Whisk in 2 Tbsp smooth peanut butter. Top with whipped cream and salted peanuts.
Mocha - Add 2 tsp instant espresso powder with the sugar, cocoa and salt. Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
Mexican Hot Chocolate - Add 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp cayenne powder. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Lowfat - Omit half & half and use 4 cups skim milk, 1/3 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tsp vanilla.
