Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Melt 1/2 cup butter in saucepan, then stir in 3 Tbsp flour to form a paste.
  3. Add water, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 brown sugar, bringing to a boil.
  4. Reduce temperature and let simmer for 3 minutes.
  5. Fill prepared pie crust with apples, then top with sugar/butter mixture.
  6. To make crumb topping, combine cubed butter, 1 cup flour and 2/3 cup brown sugar with pastry cutter.
  7. Sprinkle overtop apples, then bake for one hour, or until crust turns golden brown and filling starts to bubble.
